HB 25-1090 Pricing Transparency Update
Effective January 1, 2026
Colorado has implemented a new statewide pricing transparency law, House Bill 25-1090, which requires all service businesses to provide customers with a complete, accurate, and fully itemized estimate before any work is approved.
To remain compliant and continue protecting our customers, Japanese Auto Service is updating how we provide pricing information over the phone and in person.
What This Means for Japanese Auto Service Customers
Beginning January 1, 2026, Japanese Auto Service will no longer provide pricing over the phone or in person without first inspecting the vehicle and preparing a fully itemized written estimate.
The law requires us to disclose:
– The maximum total price of any repair or service
– All mandatory fees
– All required warranty and repair/service disclosures
– All factors that could affect the final cost
Exception: If additional required work or parts are identified, we will notify you and obtain approval before proceeding.
Mandatory Fee Disclosure
Shop supplies fee: 2% of labor and 2% of parts, not to exceed $300.

How the Updated Process Works
1. Vehicle Inspection – A trained technician inspects your vehicle to diagnose concerns and identify any additional issues.
2. Full Written Estimate – Our Service Advisors prepare a legally compliant estimate including parts, labor, mandatory fees, warranty terms, disclaimers, and your maximum total price.
3. Digital Delivery – You receive the estimate by text or email for review and electronic approval.
4. Your Approval – No work begins until you review and approve the estimate.
